Crematory Size Calculations

How To Determine Cremator Capacity Needed

Info Needed:

A. Total number of animals at site
B. Sell weight of individual animal
C. Number of days animals will be on site
D. Mortality Rate

Formula to determine daily cremator needed:

A x B / C x D = Daily Capacity Required

Example: Poultry
3 broiler houses with 23,000 birds per house,
4.5 pounds per bird, on the farm for 44 days with 4% mortality.
A. Total number of animals on farm 69,000
B. Sell Weight of individual animal x4.5 lbs.
    =310,500 total

C. Divide above total by number of days animal will be on site 44 days
    =7057
D. Mortality Rate x.04

Daily capacity required or pounds per day 282

Capacities shown for cremators are based on practical usage.  Actual capacity is affected by cremator size, animal size, use of grate, timely clean-out and other factors.

Formula to determine daily cremator needed:

A x B / C x D = Daily Capacity Required

Example: Swine

3 finishing houses with 1100 pigs per house. 220 pounds per pig.
152 days on site. 3% mortality.

A. Total number of animals on farm 3300
B. Sell Weight of individual animal x220 lbs.
    =726,000 total

C. Divide above total by number of days animal will be on site 152 days
D. Mortality rate x.03
    =4776

Daily capacity required or pounds per day 143
